    I was watching a show about this stuff the other day. The one that really got me was the Turkish map from 1530 that showed the landmass coast of antartica that's been buried under a mile thick sheet of ice for over a million years. No one knew the contour of it until the 1950's when it was discovered using sonar yet somehow a turkish general knew of it a couple hundred years before.
