I don't even know what's going on with this thing.

Some sort of late 70's era bong called The Skydiver featuring innovative ripcord technology. Obviously if this idea was any good, it would still be around today. It looks like a pretty wacky contraption. Culled from the pages of the February 1978 issue of High Times Magazine. Click on the image to blow it up and make it readable.

PS: Is it just me or does that bowl of "primo" buds look like a bowl of poop?

Vintage High Times Scan: Interview with a Terrorist

Here's an article called "Terror in Exile" scanned from the July 1979 issue of High Times. It's an interview with a dude who joined a terrorist cell in the 70's and participated in bombings of political targets. I think it's a cool insight into clandestine activities in the torrid political climate of the 1970's. Written by Jean-Marcel Bouguereau. Translation by Karen Moline.

Night Owl 1 Year Anniversary!

I think it's been a pretty "successful" year for this blog since I started it in April of last year. Lots of people have came up to me at shows, emailed, or PMed me with positive comments about what I'm doing on here. I love getting feedback, positive or negative so it's good to hear about people out there checking out and subscribing to my blog. So far, there are 13 loyal subscribers, hopefully I can at least double that in this next year. Tell your friends! As of this this moment there are 26,602 hits for the site. I'd like to thank everyone who's supported me in my creative endeavors and this year I hope to take it to the next level with more cool content, videos, reviews etc. If there's anything you want to see more of, or if you have comments or inquiries my email box is always open. Keep coming back,

Now Dig This: The Judies

I don't know what the deal with all these awesome "Now Dig This!" videos on youtube. It seems they have all these new mod-pop/punk rock bands playing their best songs in a sort of vintage TV show throwback kind of thing. I am finding some great bands through this. This song is from The Judies. I like their style, I eat this stuff right up.

Vintage High Times Scan: Drying Out by Legs McNeil

Here's a sweet scan of an article by Legs McNeil of Punk Magazine fame. This is from when High Times started to cover Punk Rock in NYC and abroad in the late 70's. I like Leg's writing style, keeps me pretty much riveted, and it's cool to gain insight into the CBGB's scene from someone who was there from the start. Originally printed in the February 1978 issue of High Times.
