Paul Kirchner and Dope Rider

I scanned and posted a comic strip called "Dope Rider" which came from an old High Times awhile back. I was sifting through posts a moment ago and realized that Paul Kirchner the man behind the dope rider strip had posted a link to his blog. I found it very entertaining to read other Dope Rider comics and hearing about the creative process in coming up with them. You can check out his blog here:

Raucous garage rock madness!

The Wailers-Out of Our Tree

One of my favorite authors.

Not a lot of poets speak in a language that really reach out and grab me. Jim Carroll's work does. RIP.

The Night Owl Blog stands behind Senator Saland's courageous and historic change of vote. This is a step in the right direction to an America where politicians aren't allowed to legislate their own brand of morality on the people of this country.

American Gods

For you Night Owl Shoegaze aficianados, this up and coming band American Gods have been putting out some real good shit lately. I reviewed their Chariot The Ghost LP awhile back which I really enjoyed. Here's a new sort of melancholy track they put out called "Chrous of Whispers":

High Times Scan: Dub Culture

This one is from the August 1978 issue of High Times magazine. Notice the ad for "Clippy's" disposable roach clips below an ad for some type of fancy lamp and it doesn't seem to be a grow lamp either (EDIT: Ok nevermind it does seem to be some sort of a smoking contraption. People were a lot more creative with their drug paraphernalia back in the 70's.)

Broke 30,000 views

Another Night Owl milestone. Thank you for all the positive feedback I've received, I hope I can make this blog into something people want to keep checking back on. I basically post up anything I think is cool/rocks along with show and record reviews, interviews, random anecdotes, and other various tidings. Music means everything to me and has helped me through a lot of tough times, so if I can share what I'm into and get even one person to check out a band that brings a smile to their face or makes their life less difficult to deal with, then my mission has succeeded. I know that sounds cheesy but it's the truth. Keep checking back and don't forget to comment if you see something you like. I like to know who digs what so I know the kind of stuff people like to see posted, it's also a tangible way to see that people are checking out and absorbing some of the stuff I post.

Anyways, keep it real...
